How we met? That's always the question after people are around us for a few minutes.
Well, like Dolly Parton said in Steel Magnolias "I think there's a story there". And there most definitely is, but I will keep it short and sweet.
I was a trainer at a local gym. We had been politely smiling at each other for months. He NEVER spoke and the one time I told him something funny from behind the counter when he checked in, he gave me a small chuckle then walked off. I'm left there thinking out loud "throw me a bone or something" ha.
Fast forward to the day I put my notice in to take another gym opportunity, I saw him and I was encouraged by my director to go talk to him, that I might not have another chance over my last 2 weeks there. Well, like the great Hockey player Wayne Gretzky once said, "You miss 100% of the shots you don't take," So I approached and took my shot! Talk about sweat and nerves!!! I had not seen a ring on his finger, but that's not out of the ordinary in a gym. So I was prepared to be mortified at him telling me he was married. I mean...how could he NOT be....he was a total hottie!
SOOOO, to cover all my bases, I walked up to him on the treadmill and formally introduced myself and said "we've been kinda noticing eachother for some time now (and in short, I gave him a list of reasons why he hasn't spoken to me yet) are you gay, married, uninterested or shy and whatever it is, I am ok with it." His reply was "shy." DING DING DING!! Winner winner chicken dinner! The conversation STILL went nowhere after that, ha. At least not till later on when I was outside yelling at my clients across the parking lot for eating bad food, when he walked out to leave and talked to me. He told me he was just out of a divorce. I told him "I had been there and they suck, but hey...everyone needs a friend right?" With a smirk, (like he knew my intentions, ha), he agreed. It took my new friend 3 times to finally agree to meet me and some friends out over the next week. Then he did and asked me out on an official date for the next day and the rest was history. He took the reins after that and I haven't seen that shy person since. Well....mostly, ha.
He asked me to marry him a year and half later. A few months after that, we were married and honeymooned in Cabo and we are living our best lives, together.
We were a little old fashioned in regards to our courting (I sound like my grandmother, ha). We both had a kid and we wanted to do right by them, so we waited till after the honeymoon to move in together.
Which brings me to the other best part of our lives...Tyler and Brylee. Tyler is now 24 and Brylee is 14. The past 10 years have been a whirlwind! 2 houses in 2 cities since.....but more on the two of them and all that later!
Also, I am married to a coach....so just get ready for sports quotes and references!
This blog came from my experiences and friends encouraging me to start it. Now, while some want me to write a memoir of my crazy and adventurous life and everyone in it I have met along the way, my heart is happier talking about my life now with Jeff and the kids and our growth than those crazy 20's and 30's, ha. But don't get it twisted.....I may do a memoir in my older years to shock everyone at my funeral like my uncle did.
My plans for this blog? Well, I would like to encourage anyone reading this, to have gumption and go for who and what they want in life. I want to share my love for DIY (I probably should've started this 5 years ago on our first home, ha). I want to share links to my favorite things whether I used them for DIY purposes and they turned out amazing and didn't break the bank, or it's just simply some favorites I purchase on the regular that make me happy. We'll see where this leads. I will say this....I only use things that are of good quality. Whether it's for my walls, floors or my FACE, ha. I'm picky!
I also sell some custom items and some not so custom.
As a visitor here, you are part of my extended community. Please ask away about anything. Exercise, relationships, books, skin care, family, DIY or even weather! ha I promise you this, if I don't have an answer, I won't make one up, I will lead you to a good resource.
I am also always open to great recommendations and fresh perspectives as well, so don't be shy.
Thank you so much for being part of this next phase of our lives. There is more to come but I will blog about that as it happens.
